Healing Through Gratitude to God for Even the Simple Things in Life
Opportunities to thank God are all around us at all times in the ordinary moments. How many times do we overlook, ignore, or dismiss those opportunities to chat with God?
It’s about choosing to believe that God is still good, even when life isn’t. Sometimes, we wait for good feelings to come before we give thanks. But in the Bible, gratitude is often an act of faith: given before the sea parts, before the healing comes, before the answer is seen. Gratitude shifts our eyes from what is missing to what is true.
That missed opportunity, that closed door—what if it was God shielding you
from something you couldn’t see?

"We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him."
Romans 8:28

Even hard emotions are teachers. Anger reveals values. Sadness shows depth.
"Search me, God, and know my heart." —Psalm 139:23

Even when it hurts, the ability to feel is a gift. It means your heart is alive.
"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you." —Ezekiel 36:26
Reflection Prompt: How has God met you in your sensitivity?
Life can be very challenging. But trials are meant for growth, and not harm. Living a life of comfort while in a spiritual battle is really not the spiritual goal of life.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” —John 16:33
Reflection Prompt: How has God met you in your trials?
